On Friday we took a trip to our little tiny local farmer's market where I snagged up some tasty goodies. We then popped by Canyon Gourmet, as we do every Friday, to get the bean a treat and more importantly, to get me some wine! I came home with loads of Cara Cara oranges, pea tendrils, some beautiful baby red scallions, strawberries, pecan butter, baby carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, baby Persian cucumbers, fresh baked bread from the gourmet store and a lovely bottle of Chardonnay.
For lunch the boys and I gorged ourselves on berries, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers and made honey and pecan butter sandwiches with our fresh baked bread. We followed up with oranges for dessert while we sat in the gorgeous sunshine. If only that were today!
That night I cooked up some rosemary lamb pops and sauteed the scallions, tossing the pea tendrils in at the last second so they were just gently wilted. The potatoes were roasted with more rosemary, garlic, walnut oil and truffle salt. I also roasted some baby carrots the same way. Since I felt like something cold and have been anti-lettuce recently, I julienned some of the cucumbers and tossed in hazelnut oil, fresh ground pepper and salt and plopped that on top of some sliced tomatoes. Dinner was pure heaven. For dessert I snacked on some salted dark chocolate I also grabbed at the gourmet store and enjoyed my wine in front of a fire. Spoiled rotten I tell you!
Since I took a picture of it, I'll include dinner from Monday. I made a tasty pancetta and broccoli frittata. The broccoli was from my CSA and I used some gorgeous eggs I got from a local lady. I topped the frittata with the remainder of those pretty scallions. I steamed up the artichokes from my CSA box as well and made some chips out of part of a leftover potato. I garnished the frittata with some arugula blossoms that were oh so pretty and just as tasty!

ReplyDeleteAh, the lamb chops. Sometimes I forget that not everyone has to suffer through winter like we do.
ReplyDeleteI know, like I said, very spoiled. I'd kill for some sun right now. All this was from last Friday and since then we've had the huge storm, flash flood and incessant rain since then, and since Monday we've had a horrible stomach bug in the house between the two boys and now me...raging barfathon. TMI, I know. Sigh. Next week it's supposed to be in the 70's...I can't wait.
